The New iPod
My mother came home from work that Monday, and showed me the latest NewsWeek, featuring Steve Jobs on the cover. I thought it strange that she'd just come home and plop a magazine on my lap; until I saw why. In Jobs' hands was the new 4th Generation of iPod, with click wheel, new interface, and $400 price tag for a 40GB model. And before I could respond to the magazine, she spoke; softly, but firmly.
"No."
Whaddaya mean? What are you talking about?
"I know what you're thinking. I keep mine, you give the one you have to your brother or your father or something, and there's your motive to buy yourself a new iPod. Unless you want to spend the rest of the year driving my Cavalier, which not even I will permit, hold off on your money. Therefore, no."
Don't you love it when your parents know what you think before you do?
And now that I currently look at it, the setup would have been perfect! Pop's birthday is in September; and there's my motive! On the same note, I want a Mustang, and my birthday's in December. But but, I'll be the coolest black brother in Crown Heights with my new iPod! That's my incentive, and my rationalization! You also want to show off to the ladies with your 7" screen, Kenwood Subwoofer(s), and what about some rims?!
Somehow, by Christmas, I see myself with the new iPod.
It just happens like that.
Some peeps I know are going through some hard times right now, mentally and otherwise. So I send some special shout-outs, props, and such to all my kliq, cuz remember...
Wven when it seems we're going through some hard times,
what do we do? We don't stop;
because we know were gonna make it through...

I've been trying to find the actual lyrics to this piece, but all the current lyrics I find for this tune omit the most important part of it, the line I just wrote above. I may have to post the actual words myself; maybe I'll attract some traffic to my site...
