This has been on my mind for awhile. I wasn't sure how to release it; but I thought this might do the trick. From the other side...

At The Edge of Forever

I saw a pair of lovers stuck
between time and space with the sky to guide them;
it was obvious neither one wanted to leave.
They embraced one another
holding on real tight;
restraining tears neither one wishes to cry.
Peering in closer, I realized that
she was the one who had to return,
and He was the one who would be missing her.
Their words were soft, almost one with the green palms
which were swaying in their favor,
persuading them both to stay.
But he remained strong, for them both;
and she became strong through him,
gaining a sense purpose as she headed for home.
I, the wandering stranger,
may have strayed to business not of my own;
but I couldn’t help but feel the air of their presence.
Forever put those two in a bliss neither wanted to fight,
yet they stood at the edge, realizing the end
was a temporary state which must be endured.
As She boarded the cruise back to the City,
she passed me by with a tear fighting to be shed,
and she sat down finally letting them flow.
Looking back at what she left behind,
all I could do was offer a tissue;
she blew, looking forward to next summer.
