You know, something weird happened to me on the bus. Which is unusual, since anything that happens to me usually happens on the train. Then again, it didn't really happen to me, it happened in front of me. Well, let me explain:
I'm on the B40, heading to a friend's house. Sitting in the back (not because I don't know my rights, but because I am strutting around with $1000 worth of digital camera, and I really don't want to be noticed), I notice this girl across from me. 13, 14 years of age, real ghetto. Her language was not the best of languages; it was just a poor sign of the BK times. In any case, entering the bus is a young couple, both black, in mid 20's, heading towards the back. Sitting right next to me, they notice the equipment. Trying my best not to look like a fool, I basically ignore them, until the male gets bold and inquires on the camera. After responding to his questions, the couple and I notice that the child's conversation is getting increasingly louder. Also, the language isn't getting any better. Finally having enough of it, the female approaches the child, to find out who the hell she was cursing and cussing at. This bold child had answered, "her mother." Now it was clearly obvious that she did not anticipate, let alone give much thought, as to what the repercussions would be having answered the question. And whether she was lying or not didn't help her either. Cause the next thing I know, she's getting beat up by the older female!!
Strange, yes. Deserving, absolutely. Necessary, you be the judge.
The driver stopped the bus. Cops came and all. But by the time they reached the girl, the male must have convinced her to change her tune. Not that her sudden screams of "Mommy! Mommy! Someone just hit me on the bus! I'm on the bus, and someone just hit me! Eh-heh-eh!!!" was change enough. But she seemed more non-ghetto now. As if she was just riding the B40 to her stop...
As for what happened afterwards, you gotta ask the people that stayed on the bus afterwards, cause I jumped out and walked to my friend's house. With a speed of about 100 steps a minute, I was not taking my time; I was speed walking, uphill, both ways, and looking back for my safety. Not that I was scared or anything, but lugging around $1000 of shit that don't belong to you might make you do things you wouldn't normally do.
Funny. I didn't ask for this. I just wanted a safe trip so I can return my friends goods.
It's good to know... God has a sense of humor.
