Saturday - 5PM:
Everything's cool at da crib. I just came back from a Saturday class, I'm relaxing with Iced Tea, everything is so calm. Peaceful. Serene.
My cell phone vibrates.
It's Max. Max, a long time friend at Hunter (hell, since I've been here at Hunter). For three years, we have have traveled that college road together; and now he wants an upgrade. An upgrade to Baruch. Cool.
He calls me to say that Baruch rejected him. That's not so bad. Another year or so at Hunter, we're finished! But it gets better.
He calls me and says He's going to Brooklyn College in the fall.
Problem. Big problem.
Brooklyn College??
What the hell is this man thinking??
After all the things we've done, he would hang it up to go to Brooklyn College?
Is the atmosphere @ Hunter so boring, so dead, he's determined to make a run for it?
Well, at this point, there was nothing I could do or say to make him change his mind.
The end of the partnership, he says.
We'll keep in touch, he adds.
Always easier said than done.
I can't believe it. A great partner, a cool guy, a friend. Gone for Brooklyn muddafookin College.
Life stinks.
